Description
The next 31 days are all about the FIFA World Cup 2010. There are many Android applications available that provide infos and news all about the World Cup 2010. From this great number of apps, we picked the free application by Luke Shan to be introduced to you.
The application provides a very well-arranged calendar view about all games during the next month. The "Teams" views gives a nice overview about all teams and groups and the current rankings. Selecting a team in this view shows all matches of this particular team - nice. Tapping on the national flag of a team opens the team's profile with in-depth statistics and a list of members of the squad. Tapping a member's name opens the player's profile from fifa.com (cool). The "Matches" view presents all games in a list form, sorted by group. Tapping a game opens the game's detail view that contains a very rough game protocol that shows a time line with goals, cards and substitutions. A long tap on a game opens a context menu that lets you choose to show head-to-head statistics, add a match reminder to your calendar (very handy!) and vote on facebook (which places a post on your wall with your vote).
The golden boot on the start page open the list of the top-scorers. The news page finally shows the latest news from fifa.com.
The information (results, news) can be updated manually or in a selectable interval.
Our opinion
This application is the work of an individual developer. The functionality grew over time and regular updates to the application made it ready for the start of the world cup. Features like adding matches to your calendar, the facebook integration and the details informations about the teams and the players make this app your perfect companion for the next month.
...and it's free!
Enjoy the World Cup 2010. You probaly never have been prepared better for it. :-)
