One day with Satio - the slightly different review
Everything we found in our earlier preview is still valid - the only difference is that this time around, we are using a final retail version of Satio with firmware revision R1BB041 (version date 06-10-2009).
I'm sure you all know the typical kind of review - split into several parts, each part covering a specific area or functionality, etc. But: is this the way how you use your phone everyday though? Not really, is it? So we thought we show you the different aspects of Satio in a slightly different manner - just like most of you will probably use the phone. In your every day life.
Read on and enjoy my day with Satio - as it might or might not have happened in reality :)
06.30: Satio's alarm clock just disturbed my dreams - is it really morning already?? And why do I get woken up by this stupid alarm tone instead of some nice music? Ah right, I didn't find the setting for the ring tone yesterday when I was configuring the alarm...
Confusion part 1: there is no option to set the alarm tone in the alarm clock menu itself
Confusion part 2: every other alert tone can be set by going to Setting --> Profiles --> Profile Type (2nd screenshot above), except - yes, you are right! - the clock alarm signal. This has to be set under Settings --> Phone --> Date and time.
OK, now I found the setting, next pain: the selection of the desired signal (screenshot to the left). The mobile phone proudly presents all suitable audio files it finds in just one long list... This applies to all alert sound selections, by the way! Good thing I don't have filled the 8GB memory card yet with music! Uh well, too early now to get annoyed about such kind of things. At least Satio lets me set more than one alarm.
07.00: Quick look at the calendar: what is on for today? The Satio shows calendar entries either in month, week or day format:
Especially the month and week view are not that easy to use with just a finger since the symbols are pretty small. Not a problem in the day view though, which is my favorite view anyway.
The calendar - together with the contacts, e-mail, messages and tasks - syncs wirelessly via POP3/IMAP4 protocol and/or via Exchange ActiveSync (using the pre-installed RoadSync client). Wired (or Bluetooth) connection allows to sync Satio with a PC via Sony Ericsson's PC Suite 6. More details on the PC Suite in the evening, have to go now :)
