The Android 2.1 update for the Xperia X8 is starting to roll out now. Just like the X10 and the minis, this update will reach the X8s out there in waves over the next couple of days and weeks.

The new features of the update are identical with the ones for the Xperia X10 mini (pro) phones, the main benefits are:

• Android 2.1 (Eclair) update
• Bluetooth send/receive files
• Improved address book, incl. sync with Facebook contacts
• New backup & restore application supporting a wider range of backup possibilities

Just like the rest of the Xperia family, the X8 won't get neither the MS Exchange support, nor the multitouch capability.
