According to a statement from Sony Ericsson's spokesman to Bloomberg, Sony Ericsson is currently not planning on releasing new phones that are powered by the Symbian operating system. Note the 'currently' in above statemtent, which in theory could mean that SE will release a phone using the open source platform again sometime in the future.

Considering the latest development in the smartphone market, it is however very unlikely that we will see another Symbian OS powered phone by Sony Ericsson anytime in the future. Android is taking giant steps when it comes to increasing market shares, and it seems to be a logical step for Sony Ericsson to focus on handsets featuring Google's successful Open Source project.

So our guess is that Satio, Vivaz and Vivaz Pro were the last Symbian OS phones by SE. What do you think? Sad? Happy?
