Sony announced today that it will take over the part of Ericsson in the joint venture - that means the end of the era of Sony Ericsson mobile phones.

There have been rumors around for quite some time now, and today Sony has confirmed that it will buy out Ericsson from the Joint Venture which has been founded 10 years ago. Sony will integrate the mobile phone division as a new subsidiary into its existing company structure. The transaction is expected to be completed in January 2012. More details yet to follow - we are very curious what this step means for the mobile phone market!
