Xperia X8 camera & video samples

After we did our Unboxing of the Xperia X8, we took the latest Android phone from Sony Ericsson out to the wild to see what its 3.2MP camera with very limited features (no autofocus, no flash, very few image settings) is capable of doing. We shot 2 videos, one outside with good light conditions, and the other one inside with medium to low light conditions. The result can be seen below, please note that the sourroundings in both scenes was very loud, so the sound appears to be much more terrible than it actually is in less noisy environments:

After the video demonstration, here is a gallery with pictures that we shot using the X8's 3.2MP camera in different light conditions. Not really surprising, we found that in first place we really miss the autofocus. This is not only a good feature for taking pictures, the lack of it makes it also nearly impossible to use a barcode scanner app for instance, since the barcode will not get the necessary sharpness that is needed to process it (unless it is a really big barcode of course).

The lack of a photolight is not that big of a deal, since also in the X10, it doesn't really add a lot to low light condition pictures. Only a 'real' Xenon flash would help here.

In order to give you an idea on how the X8 compares to the X10 in terms of camera capabilities, here are 3 sample shots side by side. Click on the thumbnails to get the full resolution pictures:

P.S. We unfortunately didn't get Mickey or any of his friends in front of the camera (well, to be honest: we could have, but we didn't feel like standing in the line for that :-) )
